Registration

For the 2024-25 school year, all campus registrations will be completed online. After students have registered online, campus registrars will communicate with parents if any further required information or documentation is needed to complete the process. If parents have a question or need assistance with online registration, please contact the registrar of your child's campus or attend one of the scheduled Parent Assistance Sessions.

The Texas Education Code (TEC) 25.001 requires schools to comply with all responsibilities concerning enrollment, withdrawals and registrations. If you have any questions or need assistance with enrolling, withdrawing or registering your child, please contact your school.

If you require additional assistance, you may contact the Student Support Services Department at (915) 877-7650.

Families who have been displaced, experiencing homelessness and students who are in foster care or kinship care may register without certain documents. Contact Student Support Services at (915) 877-7650 for more information.

Please note: Once the online registration paperwork is submitted, additional or updated documentation may be required at a later time. The campus registrar may need to contact you to help your registration be completed correctly.

Pre-K and Kinder Student Registration

The Canutillo Independent School District understands the importance of a strong foundation for students. It is now offering a new full-day pre-kindergarten program free of charge at all campuses for qualified El Paso-area families for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Canutillo is able to provide this opportunity thanks to the passage of House Bill 3, which was signed into law in 2019 and provides state funding for full-day pre-K programs for families who meet certain criteria.

If you are registering your child for the first time in Pre-K or Kinder, and if you have older children who are current students, you will use the same family Parent Portal account login and password for your Pre-K/Kinder child. Parents that are new to registering a student at Canutillo ISD are required to create a new parent portal account.

Steps to enroll a child in Pre-K or Kinder
  1. Submit an application through the Parent Portal
  2. Application is reviewed by CISD staff for eligibility
  3. If approved, you will be required to attend a Parent Orientation Session (see scheduled sessions below)
  4. If your student does not qualify for Pre-K at his/her designated campus, you may still register them for a Universal Pre-K spot at any CISD campus on a first come-first served basis
Prekindergarten Eligibility Requirements

Your child must be 4 years old by September 1. In order to get into PreK, your child needs to meet only ONE of the following requirements:

Universal Pre-K

CanutilloISD is offering full-day universal pre-k to young learners in our District. Each campus offers a section of universal pre-k that provides students the opportunity to engage in a 50/50 dual language model of education focused on learning in both English and Spanish. Due to limited capacity, this opportunity will be on a first-come first-served basis. Check with your campus of interest for more information.

Montessori

Canutillo ISD is excited to expand its early childhood program by enrolling 3-year-olds in the first public Montessori program in the region. This free, dual-language program at Gonzalo & Sofia Garcia Elementary School and Deanna Davenport Elementary offer young children in the community an opportunity to learn at their own pace through hands-on experiences while developing real-world skills.

Available spots in the program are limited. Contact your desired campus if you are interested in adding your child to the waitlist.

Transfer Requirements

Canutillo ISD will begin using an electronic transfer process for the 2024-2025 school year. This electronic transfer will be accessible through the regular registration process. The ELECTRONIC TRANSFER ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM is online and must be filled out and uploaded with the registration documents. Once a transfer is requested in TEAMS, the system will electronically send information to the appropriate personnel for approval. Upon approval and notification to the campus registrar, the registrar will contact you so that you can complete the rest of the online registration process.

The transfer deadline is May 1, 2024.

Please contact your child's home school if you have any questions regarding the transfer process.

Tuition Information

Beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, new, out-of-state students to Canutillo ISD will be charged tuition to attend Canutillo schools. Out-of-State transfer students, including children of District employees, enrolled on or before the 2016-2017 school year may continue to attend district schools on a tuition-free basis provided that the student has no disciplinary record and transportation is provided by the parent or guardian (See NEW FDA (REGULATION) Update Out-of-State Student Transfers online for more information).
