Fundamental Principles of Logic (The Laws of Thought)

In this chapter, we will discuss the fundamental principles (laws of thought) of logic: the law of identity, the law of excluded middle, the law of non-contradiction, and the law of sufficient reason. We will mention criticisms of the law of identity, the law of excluded middle, and the law of non-contradiction. Further, we will elucidate the differences and commonalities between the law of excluded middle and the law of non-contradiction. In the end, we will describe Leibnitz’s proposal on the law of sufficient reason.
